Wildfires Force 90,000 in California From Homes
Oct.27 -- Two Southern California wildfires that have forced more than 90,000 people to evacuate surged overnight as gale-force winds drove flames over tinder-dry hillsides. The Silverado fire, burning on the hills above Irvine, grew to more than 11,000 acres and is just 5% contained. The nearby Blue Ridge Fire is now 8,000 acres and burning uncontrolled, according to fire officials.
