On today's What America's Thinking, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds 45% of voters approve of the job Donald Trump is doing as President and receives 54% approval on the economy. Karlyn Bowman, Public Opinion Analyst and Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, joins Hill TV to explain why presidential approval matters now, how to gauge voter enthusiasm vs. favorability/disapproval, and how 2020 is different from 2016. This survey was conducted online within the United States from July 7-10, 2020 among 2,841 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error of this poll is plus or minus 1.9 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age within gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, and education where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.
