Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden says the latest jobs report should not be a 'victory to be celebrated' by President Donald Trump while the coronavirus pandemic is on the rise. "We should hope, but there's no victory to be celebrated. We're still down nearly fifteen million jobs," said Biden from his home in Wilmington, Delaware on Thursday. "Trump wants to declare this health crisis over and unemployment down. Unfortunately, he's deadly wrong on both fronts. We're already at more than 128,000 dead. The number keeps climbing. That's a direct consequence of Donald Trump's bungled leadership and the total mismanagement of this crisis from the start." U.S. employers added a substantial 4.8 million jobs in June and the unemployment rate fell to 11.1% as the job market improved for the second straight month. However, the economy remains far short of regaining the colossal losses it suffered in the spring during the coronavirus outbreak. The jobs reports also comes as the number of confirmed infections per day in the U.S. soared to an all-time high of 50,700, more than doubling over the past month, according to the count kept by Johns Hopkins University. The spike, centered primarily in the South and West, has led states such as California, Texas, Arizona and Florida to re-close or otherwise clamp down again on bars, restaurants, movie theaters, beaches and swimming pools, throwing some workers out of a job for a second time. "Quit hoping for the best, Mr. President. Quit claiming victory with almost 15 million Americans still out of work because of the crisis. Quit ignoring the reality, this pandemic and the horrifying loss of American life," said Biden. "Act. Lead. Lead or get out of the way so others can, Mr. President."
