The New York Times and Philadelphia Inquire are facing backlash from some of their reporters concerning coverage of ongoing protests in the U.S. The Times published an op-ed Thursday by Sen. Tom Cotton titled "Send In the Troops," that faced criticism from its staff. The Times defended its decisions in an op-ed Thursday. "We published Cotton’s argument in part because we’ve committed to Times readers to provide a debate on important questions like this." Meanwhile, reporters from the Inquire banded together by calling in "sick and tired" after the paper used the headline "Buildings Matter, Too" in Tuesday's paper, riffing off one of the protests' rallying cries, "Black Lives Matter." The paper's editors apologized Thursday: "We should not have printed it. We’re sorry and regret that we did. We also know that an apology on its own is not sufficient."
