Asian shares gain on hopes for regional economies reopening
Asian shares are higher as moves to reopen regional economies from shutdowns to contain the coronavirus pandemic override concerns about unrest in the U.S. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 1.2% to finish at 22,325.61, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.8% to 23,912.07. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose nearly 0.3% to 5,835.10, while the Shanghai Composite edged up 0.1% to 2,918.94.
