Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Temporarily Leaves Climate March Due to Safety Concerns
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was forced to temporarily leave the climate march in Madrid, Friday, December 6, due to a "safety issue," she said, caused by a large number of media and supporters who tried to get as close as possible to her.
Despite trying to make her way to the march for over an hour, with a cordon of activists and security protecting her from crowds of fans and media trying to get a glimpse of her, she opted to leave the march temporarily and join it at the end, where she was set to address climate demonstrators.
TV footage showed the 16-year-old being followed by dozens of photographers and camera operators, sometimes pushing into the cordon protecting her. (Reuters)
