'Trump Heights': Israel names Golan Heights settlement after US president
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has unveiled ‘Trump Heights’, a new settlement named after Donald Trump on the contested frontier with Syria, the Golan Heights. The US president signed a decree in March saying the US recognised Israeli sovereignty over the territory seized from Syria in 1967. Netanyahu unveiled a sign labeled ‘Trump Heights’ in English and Hebrew, decorated with the Israeli and US flags and planted on a patch of synthetic grass.
