John Gonzalez and Amy Sherman interview Susan Redding of the Hack-Ma-Tack Inn in Cheboygan, which they named Michigan’s Most Iconic Restaurant on May 24, 2019. Susan owns the restaurant with her husband Michael, and their son Robert and his wife Julie. Built in 1894 out of giant tamarack logs (Hack-Ma-Tack is the Native American word for tamarack), the Reddings took over the restaurant in 1979. It is open seasonally from May 1 through middle of October. See the Top 12 list and complete search info at mlive.com/michigansbest.
