A ground report from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s constituency Budhni. The Congress has pitted former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Arun Yadav against Chouhan in the 2018 assembly election. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has won three times from Budhni. In 2006 by-polls Shivraj Singh Chauhan won by a margin of 36,000 votes, in 2008, he won by 41,000 votes and in 2013, he increased the victory margin to 85,000 votes. This time around BJP has given a slogan of ‘Abki baar, ek lakh paar’. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Arun Yadav said that he was confident of defeating Chouhan. But the BJP mood in Budhni remains buoyant. Although Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself did not campaign in Budhni, his wife Sadhna Singh and son Kartikeya campaigned extensively in the constituency ahead of voting on November 28th. All eyes are now on counting of votes on December 11th to know the final outcome of this heated contest.
